"Anne Garry III" was named after the mother of Cpt Arthur M. Clay, Jr. This was the third aircraft assigned to Cpt Clay and the first B-29 assigned to Cpt Clay. The "Anne Garry I" was Cpt Clay's first aircraft, a B-17. The "Anne Garry II" was Cpt Clay's second aircraft, a B-24. The "Anne Garry III" was destroyed on May 26, 1945 during Mission #44. She was hit by flak over the target and two engines were knocked out. The aircraft was able to continue to Iwo Jima where the crew bailed out. The aircraft continued to fly until shot down by P-61s from Iwo Jima.
