The 6th Bomb Group

Tinian North Field - North Central Section

The control tower was located in the north central section of the airfield next to a small service area. This appears to be an early picture of the tower since the vegetation has not grown around the tower. A wooden water tower is in the left background, along with some electrical or phone wires. The control tower used the lights on top of the tower to signal the aircraft in case of an abort.

Here is a view of the field from the control tower, facing south.

An aerial view of the north central section facing south. This appears to be some kind of ceremony.
